Man buries ten-year-old daughter alive because she was a girl

A man has been arrested for trying to bury his daughter alive because she was a girl. Police said the shocking incident in Tripura, India ,saw Abdul Hussein dig a pit in his back garden while his wife was out, and then put his daughter in the hole with her hands tied together and her mouth taped up.

Her dad is then said to have filled up the pit to  chest level, with pictures showing the young girl with her arms and head above  dirt floor. When Abduls wife returned ,he put a basket over their daughters head with the intention of burying her completely later on ,but his wife began to question where their little girl was ,she soon discovered by their neighbours.

They are said to have beaten up the dad before calling the police, Abdull was then arrested and now faces charges of murder.

The case comes four months after a seven year old girl clawed her way up to safety after being   strangled and buried alive in the Uttar Pradesh region of India .The youngster was found by shocked villagers after hearing her cries for help.

The little girl named Tanu, told the police her aunt and uncle had taken her from her mothers house days earlier and buried her in the field

Angelina Jolie slams Nigerian govt over recent Boko Haram attacks

“Every time they (Boko Haram) get away with mass murder, rape and the enslavement of women and children, they are emboldened,” Ms Jolie said in a statement.

Just as Nicki Minaj and Solange Knowels, Hollywood star Angelina Jolie has also condemned the killing of over 2000 people in Baga ,a community in Borno State.

In a statement,the UN Ambassador and actress stressed the need for the government to cripple the activities of the group.  “Each new crime committed by Boko Haram exceeds the last in brutality .This is a direct consequence of the environment of total impunity in which Boko Haram operates.

Meanwhile, Executive Director United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF), Anthony Lake ,has also also condemned the brutal killing saying “Young girls sent to die with a bomb strapped to their chests in Maiduguri. And lest we forget, more than 200 girls stolen from their families still lost.”

Wife shoots husband as he tries to surprise her with breakfast in bed

A soldier from Forte Bragg was shoot in the chest on a Friday morning when he tried to surprise his wife with breakfast in bed. According to the police in Fayetteville , Zia Zegul, 28, left for military base as usual at around 8 am but snuck back soon after to prepare his  romantic treat.

However, Zegule tripped the burglar alarm when he approached the bedroom door was shot through the closed door at around 10 am by Tiffany Zegule, 27, who had gone back to sleep after he left.

Police say Zegule came home through the front door but it is not clear whether he announced himself before he was shot by his wife.

Realizing to her horror what had happened ,Tiffany Zegule called 911 and when paramedics arrived her husband was talking and described as responsive in the ambulance. He is currently stable and is expected to be released from hospital in North Carolina. Police said Tiffany may have been spooked because of a number of recent home invasions in the nieghborhood.

Poisoned beer at funeral kills 69 mourners

A contaminated traditional beer has killed at least 69 people amid suspicions that it was poisoned with crocodile bile

The mass poisoning occurred when people attending a funeral in the village of Chitima in central Mozambique fell ill. Pombe is a traditional home-brewed beer made from cornflour ,but it is believed crocodile bile was added at some point during the event on Friday. Seven fatalities were initially confirmed on Saturday morning

‘ As we prepared to determine  the cause of death of people,we began to receive a lot of people with diarrhoea and other muscle aches,’ Paula Bernardo ,the district director for Health,Women and Social Action, told a public broadcaster

‘After that we began to receive dead bodies from several neighbourhoods’, she said at least 169 bodies remained in hospital.

Samples of the brew and suspicious substances found inside the drum have been taken to the National Laboratory in the capital in Maputo for testing.
